Designing Spring 2011
Posted by: Ruth on Sun, 26 June 2011
Even though it’s rather chilly out, I’m turning my head and heart towards the coming spring/ summer season. I’ve coloured up my basic fabric for Summer 2011 with coral, denim blue, nude beige, magenta and black being strong favourites. Fatique, navy and white are also important for the coming season, so I’ll definitely be offering some pieces in those colours.
I’ve opted for quality 195gm viscose lycra, which has anti pill properties. In London and Europe I did see a big return to wovens in cotton lawns and hammered chiffons. Prints are so important and the sky is the limit, with florals taking centre stage, whether it’s in monochromatic minimal floral or big bold English Garden romantic floral, there’s something for everyone.
Silhouettes I’m concentrating on will be the ever present basics: shoe string cami, bum hugger skirt, leggings. Knee length dresses with knots or twist at neck line. Lace tunic, romantic flirty skirt and vest combo, just to mention a few.
